Turns out I was right on one count when I told my girlfriend not to go back with her mom.
Her parents have two houses, one in Concord, CA, and one in Rodeo, CA. My girlfriend was staying in the one in Concord, and her mom agreed to let her stay at that house with her father so I could see her easily. That’s fine, but I have to either drive Downtown Concord or a small stretch of freeway, neither of which is desirable unlicensed. But so what.
Then…a turn for the worse. Turns out her father lost the Concord house, and her mom seized the opportunity and is trying to take my girlfriend to Rodeo, which is about an hour away by freeway. This was the one thing I was most afraid of, and I told her of this.
So I am making plans to get her out of there. I’m sick of having to do jousting matches with her family, so I’m cutting them out of the picture completely now.
But wait; it gets better.
Her sister does tarot cards (Total bullshit here), and she made a bevy of death predictions for me, saying I have until 25. (She predicted my demise at 18, which came and passed)
I will follow the advice of my step dad, word for word: “That bitch should be slapped for playing with cards.”

So I managed to get things worked out with my girlfriend. Everything was OK, for a bit.
Short lived, however.
A little back story on what kick-started this crap:
She had moved out with her brother about two months ago. Turns out that wasn’t such a hot idea, as her brother turned out to be really restrictive and wouldn’t let us see eachother. Her sister-in-law would regularly start shit between me and her brother, thusly wrecking any chance we had to see eachother. I only got to see her when I drove her to work.
So she supposedly gets so angered that she finally runs away and comes to my house. I’m extremely happy now as I have her where I can see her as I please. Unfortunately, she jumps ship and heads back to her mom’s, who’s an evil bitch.
Shall I name the sins? She tried to harvest me for money, tried to manipulate her daughter into playing the pregnancy card so she could get a cut of my monetary earnings, trick her into early marriage, cutting her down, and stuff. Her sisters are guilty of the same, as well. When I ditched home and came over there, she threw me back out when she found out I had not one dime to my name. She even went as far as not letting my girlfriend out of the house, so any chance of me seeing her before she moved = dead.
So anyway, I try to pound it into her head that if she went back I probably wouldn’t see her again. Woo hoo, she doesn’t care. I don’t care either, so I let her go. Fine, we’ll see what happens. Her mom appears to have loosened up, but her sisters don’t resist the chance to begin their attacks early.
Her oldest (and married) sister dislikes me, and she states that she hates me because I wouldn’t drink regular pepsi at her son’s party. Uh? You are mad at me for not committing suicide? Get out. (FYI, I am diabetic. massive sugar = death)
Her second-in-line sister hates me because I attacked her for stealing my girlfriend’s clothes. (And she hated me from the beginning since I didn’t repair her computer in one hour, and proceeded to trash my reputation. Sorry bub, no Windows install is going to take one hour.)
Her last one hates me for making her move out. (I had nothing to do with it…my girlfriend claims she did it for me, but they don’t need to know, do they?)
Her mom’s still cool with me though. Her sisters are motioning to have a restraining order put on me so I cannot come anywhere near the house, thus nearly breaking the relationship. Funny thing is, I’ve never come even close to doing any physical harm to any of them. (Nice)
While things seem to have loosened up quite a bit now, things are still a bit hectic.
While she is allowed to see me whenever she wants for however long she wants, there’s a catch–one of her sisters has to go with her. I’ve had her sister with us on a date before–she’s usually very intrusive and very annoying.
On top of that, her sisters are trying to say I owe them an apology. I already made it loud and clear that my attack on her sister who steals her clothes was justified and doesn’t mandate an apology. I also don’t believe that not-committing-suicide counts as a sin either.
Thankfully, they haven’t started up the marriage crap again. If that happens again, I’m jumping ship.

I’ve been hearing oh so much about the iPhone’s price drop. The negatives mostly. Everyone complaining that they got shafted only three months after they bought their first iPhones.
Well guys, get over it. If you lived like that, you’d never buy another piece of technology ever again.
Things are constantly being replaced. I’ll admit I was a little miffed when the new MacBook Pro’s came out (2 GB of RAM!) for the same price as their predecessors.
But that’s how the technology world is
We just need to be productive with what we have, not be pissed off at the future. If you blew $600 on an iPhone because you think it was worth it, it still is. Trust me.

So I got to muck around with my friend’s Wii. She had one of the games I made a point to buy the console JUST FOR, Metroid Prime 3.
I spent some good time with the game, and I must say, damn it handles well.
But, I can’t help but feel that a lot of cues for this game were outright jacked from Metroid Fusion (GBA Game). Let’s review:
Dark Samus: Ok, we seen her in Metroid Prime/2. But still, kind of bears some resemblance to SA-X in Fusion. (And Fusion is the current end of the line game as far as the series goes.)
Beam functionality: In Fusion (Or any 2D Metroid), you don’t get a choice of beams. One replaces the other. In MP3, when you get the Plasma Beam, your Charge Beam is shoved aside, and so on.
And next on, (HUGE SPOILER, PROCEED WITH CAUTION)
We have the corruption itself. Early in the game, Samus is corrupted with Phazon. This calls back two games here, Prime 1 and Fusion. Prime 1 when you defeat the Omega Pirate, he falls over on you, corrupting you with Phazon. (But said corruption doesn’t take an active role until the finale with Metroid Prime.) MP3 calls back Fusion on this regard in that Samus, towards the beginning the game, becomes corrupted by the X parasites, and she crashes her ship, has to be taken in to the Federation, blah blah. You get it.
The ship as well. The ship will regularly call you and scream at you for little things. Not exactly the same as ADAM, your ship’s computer on Fusion, which can be reached through little terminals scattered throughout the game, and will regularly scream at you at said terminals.
And a boss that has appeared in so many games of the series: Ridley. You fight three forms of him. Woohoo.
And lastly, one weapon–the Ice Missiles. Direct copy from Fusion. Where’s the ice beam? There was a supposed reason behind not having it in Fusion (Metroids + Cold = Not good), but we’ve never heard of the IB being incompatible with Phazon.
I have to cut this post short, but that isn’t to say these elements make a bad game. Corruption is a kick ass game with a kick-ass story. And it includes what I loved about Fusion.

We got tons of new iPods, and a new line totally.
First, the Nano: It gained weight. It’s as wide as the regular iPods, has a huge screen, and does video. Sizes are nudged up to $150 for the 4 GB and $200 for the 8. (!!!)
Second, the full size iPod (Now dubbed iPod “classic”.) These monsters now top out at 160 GB (!!!!!!! That’s bigger than my MacBook’s HD!), and 40 hours battery life! (Eat that, nano) The price remains the same, $249 for the 80, $349 for the 160.
(BTW, the 80 GB gets 30 hours of battery life. Pretty good.)
Third, the newbie to the line, the iPod touch. Comes in 8 and 16 GB sizes. $400 bottom line. Imagine the iPhone without the phone and a mobile iTunes store. Then you’ll get a iPod Touch. Not worth the price yet.
Then lastly, a HUGE iPhone Price drop. $200 drop on the 8GB model. This should bust the iPhone market wide open.

Apple’s Media event is tomorrow.
You can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be sitting at Apple.com refreshing constantly tomorrow.
We’ll probably see an iPhone sales update, iPod sales update, introduction of new iPod/Nano models. Like last year.
I’ll hold bets that Apple releases the “iPod 5.6″. More battery life, more software features, same form factor, 100GB top-end. Who knows. I don’t think there’ll be a touchscreen iPod, as that would severely cut into iPhone sales. And a widescreen iPod doesn’t seem very Apple-like to me.
